In Super Smash Bros.

Air Slash appears in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U as Shulk's up special move and main form of recovery. It should be noted that Air Slash in Xenoblade Chronicles does not get as much height as it does in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. In this game, Shulk leaps high into the air and does a slash, but if the special button is pressed again immediately after the first slash, Shulk will perform a second, sideway slash, that gives him a small boost in height and horizontal distance. The Air Slash does a total of 11.5% of damage at its strongest (if both slashes hit) and 10.5% at its weakest. A second slash does not exist in Xenoblade Chronicles, but it may be a subtle reference to Air Slash being capable of inflicting two status effects. Also, the second slash is how Shulk performs the attack in Xenoblade Chronicles (leaping into the air then striking with a sideway slash). If Shulk has Monado Jump active when he uses Air Slash, the vertical distance will become greater.
