The Ancient Machine is a boss in Xenoblade Chronicles. It is fought at level 8 in the Colony 9 area. It is accompanied by a second version on the right. This first Ancient Machine has a higher physical strength but a lower ether power than the second one. Upon reaching the Cylinder Hangar, the party is forced to fight two of them to continue the story.

The two Ancient Machines are guardians of the Cylinder Hangar, and attack, by Shulk, Reyn and Fiora, mistaking them for the true threat. It is only after this that the raid on Colony 9 begins.
