Aux Cores selection in inventory

Aux Cores (Japanese: アシストコア, Ashisuto Koa) are a type of equipment in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna ~ The Golden Country. They are auxiliary core accessories for Blades that strengthen them by enhancing their abilities, except for Poppi, who uses Skill RAMs to achieve the same effect. They provide a bonus of some sort, such as increasing damage against a certain kind of enemy, or increasing critical hit rate. Aux Cores are activated by equipping them on Blade's equipment which have Aux Core slots. They can drop from normal enemies and Unique Monsters upon defeat or upon inflicting Smash, and can be obtained from Treasure Troves. Like Accessories for Drivers, Aux Cores for Blades are similar to Gems in Xenoblade Chronicles and Augments in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Blades' weapons can be enhanced by equipping Aux Cores to boost stats and using Core Chips to increase damage output, block rate, and evasion rate.

Refinement[]

Aux Cores are always in an empty state when they are first obtained in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. They are known as Unrefined Aux Cores, and cannot be equipped to a Blade in this state. To be able to equip them to Blades, they must be refined at an Aux Core Shop, for a price. Collectibles are spent to refine Aux Cores, and some of them require a certain amount of a specific few collectibles or require a quota of collectibles from a list of options. Common Aux Cores require smaller amounts of collectibles or more common collectibles be refined, while uncommon and rare Aux Cores require larger amounts of collectibles or more rare collectibles to be refined. Aux Cores do not need to be refined in Torna ~ The Golden Country.
