Tirkins (Japanese: ターキン, Tākin, alternate plural form Tirkin) are a recurring species of sentient bird-like humanoids in the Xenoblade Chronicles series. They are a type of enemy in Xenoblade Chronicles, Torna ~ The Golden Country, and Future Redeemed, and are both a race and an enemy family in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Tirkins are similar in appearance to, and may be related to, Chilkins, which look like white Tirkins, and Gulkins, which look like blue Tirkins. In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, white Tirkins appear in cold regions and Chilkins do not.

Aside from equipment and color, all Tirkins have the same appearance. Totems can buff some Tirkin enemies in a similar manner to Standards.

Xenoblade Chronicles[]

Tirkins are humanoid enemies only found on the Bionis' Leg. They have the appearance of birds quite similar to parrots; however, they wear armour and carry weapons about with them. Many of them are sight monsters. There are many classes of Tirkins. A group of kindred Tirkins can use Chain Attacks.

The behaviour, adornments and social structure of Tirkins strongly suggest they are an intelligent race, but they can still be harmed by the Monado unlike the Homs, Nopon and High Entia.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2[]

Tirkin are found primarily in Gormott Province; they are quite similar to the Tirkin from Xenoblade Chronicles. Tirkin are shown to be a civilized bird-like humanoid race, even being able to communicate with other races of Alrest. However, the majority of them appear to make their home in smaller settlements rather than living in villages or cities and also appear to be much more primitive compared to the other races of Alrest. Despite this, some Tirkin such as the Fire Dragons are shown to have integrated with the rest of Alrest society in positions such as chefs or guards.

Tirkin NPCs speak in a pidgin dialect of Alrest's language, similar that spoken by Nopon, with similar incomplete sentences. Furthermore, the spelling of certain words is highly simplified (e.g. "mek" for "make") and the hard "c" sound is always represented as a "k" (e.g. "kannot"). In the English dub, Tirkin are depicted speaking with Cockney accents.

Tirkin have a small settlement named Tirkinlandia in the Kingdom of Tantal.
