Tatsu holding up the Follow Ball

The Follow Ball is an object in Xenoblade Chronicles X. It helps the party navigate Mira by flying ahead of the party and helping the party to find objectives without getting lost. It also features a "hover mode", in which the Follow Ball will fly up into the sky and give the party a bird's eye view of their surroundings. It is first introduced by Tatsu when the party meets him. It was initially known as the Navigation Ball or Nav Ball.

The use of the Follow Ball during a Mission

When a Mission is given priority by being placed on the Mission Board, the location where the party must go is indicated on the Segment Map, with an arrow pointing in its direction if it is not directly visible. Should the party want to know how to get there (if, for example, there is complex terrain in the vicinity), a Follow Ball may be deployed, which will immediately indicate a traversable path to the location by flying along it. Each Follow Ball travels much faster than the party can on foot and can only travel a limited distance, but the party may deploy an infinite number of them.
