For those who have not completed games in the Xenoblade Chronicles series, this page contains spoilers regarding the plot. Discretion is advised.

The Monado II is a weapon in Xenoblade Chronicles. It is obtained on Prison Island just before the fight with Metal Face. Zanza breaks the shackles that made the Monado unable to cut sapient Bionis life, making it a double-edged sword. It also allows the Monado's skills to be upgraded to level 10. With Monado II, Shulk can also attack any Face Mechon and being of Bionis without rebound as they are piloted by Homs.

Like all Monados, the Monado II's Attack value is dependent on Shulk's level, becoming more powerful as he levels up.

Appearance

The Monado II looks nearly identical to its predecessor at first glance, but there are a number of subtle changes in its design. In front of the Monado's ring there is now a lengthened guard akin to that of a rapier, which is built into the fore of the blade. The empty patches in the main blade have disappeared, and there is now a silver band running to the tip of the sword. The blade retains the coloration and overall structure of its previous form, most importantly the ring that reveals its powers.

Notes

  • When Shulk reaches level 72, the Monado II's minimum and maximum Attack values both reach the maximum of 999. At this point Attack Stability gems will have no effect unless paired with an Attack Plus gem.

Trivia

  • The symbol that appears when the Monado II is acquired is the kanji "人" (jin or hito), meaning "person". This refers to the fact that the Monado can now cut all Bionis life.
